Water-repellent finish
The water repellency of fabrics can be improved by mechanically incorporating water-repellent substances or by applying film-forming substances (fluorine, silicone). This property diminishes over time due to abrasion or washing, so that re-impregnation may be necessary. The impregnation can also be reactivated by ironing or tumble drying. Good impregnation is very important to maintain the breathability of coated fabrics.
